Post subject:  Precise 90 degree turns

I am trying to make precise 90 degree turns when I turn my robot in teleop. I use one joystick to move one motor forward and back and another joystick for the other one. So when I move one joystick forward and the other back it turns in a specific direction. But, I want to make the turn very "square" and 90 degrees. Right now it doesn't do that and one motor goes faster then the other. How do I do this?

Hi there,

In the future, please do not tack your question onto another post. Just create a new one. I have done this for you now.

There are several alternatives for this. Here are some ideas

Closed Loop Control (the most accurate)
- Use a gyro sensor and slow down around 80 or 85 degree

Open Loop Control
- Use quite low power (20-30%)
- If encoder is available use driving to a motor position or driving with a constant speed for a constant time
- Without encoder, drive a given time
- Measure the actual angle and based on analyzed results, adjust the turning parameters
