Post ROBOTC for Mindstorms 2.00 Preview
We're gearing up to release 2.00 in a few more days, but I wanted to post a release of 2.00 in a Preview form for everyone to try out over the weekend.
http://robotc.net/downloads/ROBOTCforMindstorms_200_Preview.exe

Licensing:
- Your 1.x license is good for 2.0. There will be no upgrade fee for 1.0 users upgrading to 2.0.

Not in 2.0:
- NXT Color Sensor Support - It's coming soon after 2.00 is out the door. (2-4 weeks after)
- RS-485 support - Probably a 2.5 release target
- Robot to Multi-Robot communication over BT - 2.5 or 3.0 release target.

Our current To-Do list:
Add more documentation - Unreferenced Functions - Note Tasks and Function limits (20,140)
Clean up FTC folder of Sample Programs
Update Start Page Update for 2.00
Update What's new - ROBOTC HTML document
Joystick *misconfigured* error box - harmless, but annoying.
Read-Only Flag on Sample Programs
Clean up a few screens/text boxes

If you find any bugs/issues - please keep them in this thread or e-mail them to support@robotc.net

- Tim

Some of the new features include:
  • You can now open and edit multiple files at once
  • Number of user tasks increased to 20
  • Maximum number of functions increased to 140
  • Lots of bugs fixed
  • Better looking interface
  • Support for signed and unsigned bytes/chars

I am sure there is more, this is just what I know off the top of my head.

Regards,
Xander

Again, there should be no capitals in "ToolBars..."; it's "Toolbars..."

Thanks, that was bugging me. :D

I don't know if anyone bothered reading my critique of the 1.91 Beta, but if you did, seriously consider some of the thoughts I had. This includes multiple views-per-document support, and adding a dynamic splitter to the code window would be nice, especially for people with lots of code (if you have no idea what I'm talking about open VS with a code file or even just Word, look just above the up arrow for the scroll bar, there should be a little box; if you hover over that the cursor changes to an two sided, vertical arrow, traversed by a double bar, click and drag, and ; if you didn't know that was there, no worries, my guess is 80% of users don't either, but still it's nice to have). Also work on some high color (24/32-bit) toolbar images (some of which by the way, Microsoft is just giving you to use: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\VS2008ImageLibrary), the current ones really don't look very good with the Office 07 skins; kudos on the new program icon though. Seriously consider some of my menu reorganization ideas. The current menu layout is alright, but could stand some improvement. If no one bothered to read my criticism (not supprised or offended, don't worry) and would like to see it again, I can post it again, or if only you developer types care to see it, I can e-mail it to the addess at the top of the thread.
