Post Can't seem to get RCX to respond
Hi everyone, new person here.

I have downloaded the Robot C demo to eval. it for my youth group activities which I have at my church... When I try to download the firmware I get an error message. NXT drivers not installed........ first of all I am trying to use a bunch of rcx left over from the last decade.
The light is lit on the serial tower...... which should indicate that I have the com up and running.
The RCX is on with new batteries.

I can see no options as to RCX or NXT??

Very lost
Kat

Hi Kat,

One thing you need to check is that you are in RCX mode and not using NXT mode. Go to View in the top menu and select Preferences. Then select Platform Type and make sure its on Lego Mindstorms RCX. You can only program one platform type at a time and I believe its defaulted for the NXT. If you ever want to program a NXT in the future, you will have to change this option back.

Also, make sure you have the newest driver installed for the RCX IR Tower. Here is a link to download it:

Good Luck B-)
