Post RobotC, simple ideas for a robot task
I am in the beginning stages of learning how to program, and for a school project I need to basically have a simple program that has the robot to a task that has real-world applications. This project mainly just wants us to demonstrate that we are able to apply what we have learned this semester (mostly with loops) to having a robot do a task.
I am having so much trouble trying to come up with an idea, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

depends on how much time you have to put into this!

If you say you are just starting, maybe you can build a simple cleaning robot that uses wall avoidance, kind of like what robotic vacuum cleaners like the Roomba use to avoid walls and keep going on with their job

drive forward until a touch sensor or sonar sensor detects that you are near the wall
then turn, drive forward a little, and turn away from the wall and drive away until you are a certain distance away

this can be used in house cleaning, lawn mowing, etc...

think about it, look at what sensors you know how to use etc. and then come up with more ideas

Good Luck!

Yes, good idea would be to program something more clever than a Roomba ;) Their path finding is not really ...smart. I guess there is some complex algorithm behind it, but it doesn't seem that way. The navigation of the Neato vacuums seems to be much smarter. It travels in straight lines instead of just bouncing around.

This thread is over 4 years old...please check the latest post date on a thread before responding in the future, to avoid "resurrecting" a dead thread.

Thank you!
