Post Broken NXT-Require Assistance. Please and Thank you.
My team and I came in today to find our NXT unresponsive. It would not turn on and a clicking sound can be heard (which I've heard means it's resetting.)

The NXT should be fully charged as it has been on the charger for several hours. The batteries are also charged, so power is not an issue. Any help or advice anyone can offer would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just hook it up with the USB cable and install the firmware. The soft clicking sound is just the NXT telling you it doesn't have a firmware, it's in what's called SAM-BA mode.

It's by no means broken.

Regards,
Xander

My NXT is experiencing the same issue. I try downloding the firmware with ROBOTC, and it says "Brick could not be opened", and "No NXT bricks connected via USB". Attempting to re-download the firmware with my LEGO software says "Cannot locate NXT device to download firmware!".

The clicking sound went on for several minutes, and has now decided to stop.

Help?

So far, I've tried re-installing the device driver, hitting the reset button multiple times, uploading the firmware again with ROBOTC and LEGO NXT software, all to no avail. I'm just left with a clicking NXT. My "Devices and Printers" window shows the NXT as "Bossa Program Port", and lists the manufacturer as "Arduino Srl (www.arduino.org)", which I assume is who made the electronic parts for the NXT-- there's no recognition at all that it's an NXT or that it's from LEGO.

Did you install the Arduino IDE then decided to update the NXT firmware? If so, read this thread.
