Attempt to run that "motor". The "speed" value will control the brightness. Make sure and PID/encoder control is turned off. "Direction" is irrelevant.

Not completely true. If you run it with a negative speed, you may end up sucking all the light out of the room and into the NXT.

I'm not familiar with the RCX light (or the RCX system in general, being completely honest), but if they used standard LED's then this guide on Dimming an LED using PWM (from our Arduino section of the wiki) may be useful if you want to learn how exactly the motor command is able to control an LED (the motor command sends out a PWM signal as well). Please correct me if the RCX light is not set up this way.

So if we push a negative value to one light, and a positive value to another light connected to the same NXT, point the second light at a solar panel...Infinite energy? We would need to pick up some flux capacitors from Tosche Station to power the cold fusion reactors, of course. :D

The "RCX Light" uses an incandescent light bulb.
