Can you tell us a bit about what you were doing at the time?

I have usually received an err type: 7 msg when trying to access out of bounds indexs with arrays

Yeah, I remember now seeing them when I was messing with arrays and not respecting their proper sizes. Maybe if you paste some of the code that you think might be causing the problem we can try to help you track it down.

Regards,
Xander

Hello,

I dont get that error when i get out of bounds on arrays,

once i had an other problem also with version 1.40,
i was writing to the array bound -1 this gave no problem on running the program, the value was writen to the variable above the array in the global variabels list.
writing to bound -2 gives the same result, but the to the 2nd value above the array.

but no error type 7:

Hey Yeputons,

Dick posted a message or link, (dont quite remember) elaborating on what these messages mean. It was a long time ago, and I have lost it in the forum lol ;-). I will see if I can find it, I think I saved it on my home computer. You may want to look for it. Good luck B-)

I found It B-)

It looks like message 7 is indeed an array out of bounds.

If you have the ROBOTC debugger open it will provide a text readable explanation of error code 7. And it will contain the reference to the line of code that caused the error.

The array bounds checking code should also catch negative array indices. I just retested this with a short program and it was working fine. If your program is writing to out of bounds arrays, it may be because you have bounds checking disabled -- you can re-enable it through the "Preferences" command under the "Compiler" tab.
