Post NOOB HELP WITH ROBOT C THROUGH MAZE
HELLO, I'M A FIRST YEAR ENGINNERING STUDENT. I'M HAVING A REAL HARD TIME FIGURING OUT HOW TO WRITE A PROGRAM FOR MY ROBOT C. MY TASK IS TO GET MY ROBOT LEGO ROBOT THROUGH A MAZE. I'M NOT SURE HOW TO GET STARTED WRITING THIS PROGRAM. IS THERE ANY EXAMPLES TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM? ANY WEBSITES. I ASSUME THIS IS A COMMON TASK IN ENGINNERING. HOWEVER I CAN'T FIND ANY EXAMPLES OF THIS TASK. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. SOME SPECIFICS ARE THAT THE ROBOT HAS SONOR. IT HAS TO GET THROUGH THE MAZE WITHOUT HITTING ANY WALLS.

My suggestion is to set the NXT into View mode for the sonar sensor and then move the robot through the maze by hand. Watch the displayed values as you approach walls and turn corners. Write down what you see and what you as a human have to do to make the robot move through the maze. Then figure out how to make the code duplicate what you did by hand.

Hey there,

Maze solving is indeed a common engineering problem. Here are a few links from my bookmarks collection that are maze-related:
Algorithms - Kruskal's Algorithm: http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threa ... ID=4015324
Algorithms - Quickest Maze Solve Algorithm: http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threa ... ID=4250824

Micromouse : Maze solving algorithm: http://madan.wordpress.com/2006/07/24/m ... algorithm/
Motion Planning in Virtual Environments Workshop: http://www.cs.tau.ac.il/~shalitaa/cours ... =MazeSolve

I am sure there are many, many more pages out there on the Big Bad Interwebs. Some of these pages might be more useful than other, YMMV.

Regards,
Xander

PS: Loose the caps lock, it's cruise control for cool. It's the equivalent of shouting and considered rude by most. I recommend using a screw driver to pry the caps lock key from your keyboard or perhaps something like this.

Try looking here: http://www.robotc.net/teachingmindstorms/index.html under the movement section.
