Post Wireless connection between pc-vex
Hello, my team and i are creating a robot using robotC and i have seen that the vex supports the 802.11g which basically allows you to have access using wireless. I would like to have the pc and the vex communicate. I have searched around the internet but i haven't found anything that might help me... How is it possible to establish such a connection?

There is a guide on the ROBOTC wiki specifically for setting up the VEXNet system that you may want to take a look at (you can find it here).

Basically, you will set up the pair the Cortex and the Joystick Controller, change the settings in ROBOTC to enable VEXNet debugging, send the changes to the Cortex, and start using the VEXNet controller. If you run into any issues at all, please let us know what the issue is and what step you are on and we'll be more than happy to help.

Post Re: Wireless connection between pc-vex
hi john -
i am trying to setup a vexnet link between the cortex and the joystick.
i have got the latest firmware installed on both devices, and have followed the instructions in the setup guide.
usb A2A cable is connecting them, power on the cortex.
the vexnet light comes on green on the joystick, but does not turn on for the cortex.
spinning my wheels at this point.

I believe the original poster was asking how to have a PC and Vex communicate, as opposed to a Controller and robot communicating. In other words, you plug the VexNet key into your PC instead of the controller, which would open up a lot of possibilities for advanced programming. For example, I'm trying to get an autonomous robot to send data that it collects along its way back to my PC in real time. Could you please respond with an answer that directly answers the question? I'm sorry if that sounds rude, I mean no offense by it whatsoever, but this is a question that the original poster and I would both like to see answered, and I've yet to find something that even addresses it on my own. I've skimmed over the documentation you provided, and will continue to do so in the meantime, but I've yet to see someone actually address wirelessly connecting a PC to Vex. Thank you!
