What's the vex gyro used for?

 What's the vex gyro used for?
In this year game vex sack attack my team wants to use the gyro but I don't know what I can use it for can someone tell me for what will the vex gyro be usefull? By the way I'm in the high school competition.

Today i just used mine so that way when i press a button on the controller it automatically orientates itself to face on of the 4 walls i have a button for each wall and it could help when trying to line up to put your sacks in the trough. at the least its something you will never use but can say you have.
