 HT Color sensor faulty?
Hi guys,
Just received my HiTechnic sensors this morning and have been testing them out.
However I seem to have encountered a problem with the Color Sensor. When I plug it in, there is no "light" source coming out from the LED at the bottom. Tested the Color sensor on all 4 ports with NXT-G and RobotC (I've used Xander's drivers and test files and also the sample 3rd party test files from HiTechnic included with RobotC) and I kept getting an error. Just want to check, am I right to assume that if it is working, it should have a light coming out from one of the LEDs?
Test cases:
Using the Ultrasonic (cm) test method as instructed by the manual, the sensor registered no change in readings. Not even a tiny fluctuation.
Functions provided by Xander are returning "FALSE" boolan values that indicate sensors failed to read.

Heh, was hoping to get a faster reply here but seems like HiTechnic was pretty fast to reply my email. Anyway they told me to ship it back to them for an exchange so everything's good. I hope.

Steve,
Yeah, HT are very good about their return policy. Perhaps you should also post something on the NXTasy forum so people won't post there as well.
Regards, Xander

 Re: HT Color sensor faulty?
I would not say it is faulty. However, I did have 3 defective ones already. They were good returning the first one. I'll have to send back another two. I had other good ones so that I could confirm they just did not work as my other ones work fine with the same NXT hardware, software... even the same cord.
Otherwise, the red/green/blue gave pretty precious values.

 Re: HT Color sensor faulty?
Just make sure you test the sensor in NXT-G as well.
Elizabeth, did you try recalibrating the sensors?
Regards, Xander
