Post Using the Arduino on the EV3 USB Host Port
I know one can plug a USB cable from a Arduino Uno into the EV3 Host USB Port and the Arduino will operate properly.

Will it be possible to send and receive data from the Arduino in RobotC for the EV3 by the EV3 USB Host Port?
(This is an easier 'plug to plug' connection then hooking up a modified cable I2C connection.)

(The reason I ask this on the Sensors forum area is because the Arduino CAN act as a 'smart' sensor connection with analog and digital inputs and outputs.)

I don't believe sending an Arduino program through the EV3 USB Host port is needed, but sending and receiving data is desirable.

Thanks again.

There are currently no plans for such a feature, as far as I know. The VM control that port for the sake of daisy chaining. Right now there are no "hooks" for a serial port type of communication. it's all just HID.

Sorry to hear that. :-(

I guess I2C to Arduino will be the way to go.

Thanks anyway.

Making SURE. :?:

RobotC will be able to make use of I2C communications. (Is this right?)

That way I can connect the Arduino to the EV3 as on:

(I am trying it now, as supposedly it works with the Original Mindstorms EV3 software.)

Sorry for troubling you again, I just needed to be sure of this

Yes, EV3 has I2C support :)
