Pointers in 3.0

Post Pointers in 3.0
Our team very recently bought our RobotC licenses. I found that the new version accepts code like "int* q;" or "int* q = &x;", but the compiler will not accept something like "int z = *q;". Do I have the syntax wrong, or is RobotC only half supporting pointers?

ROBOTC does not support full pointers. You can use "pass by reference" however, as this is supported.

Our plan is to support pointers in the 3.x product lifetime.

Always known about the support for pass by reference, but the inclusion of full pointer support in the 3.x line is a huge announcement.

Besides pointers and Samantha integration (a phantom.dll replacement?), I am curious what else is new. I see a placeholder for what appears to a powerpoint or PDF for "What's new in ROBOTC 3.0" on the http://www.robotc.net/ftc page, but it is not currently clickable. Is there anyplace I can find a list of changes for the 3.x releases?

Thank you! This would enable our library to be more modular and possibly making the port between the FTC and FRC library a lot less work.

We'll be posting a changelog when we make a formal announcement (sometime next week) about 3.0 being released.

3.01 coming within a week will have Samantha support. Pointers are still a way's away, but will be coming in the 3.x future.
