Post PID Programming
Im teaching ROBOTC. using RVW. Can I use PID programming in Virtual World environments? If not, is there a need to cover the section on PID Control?

Post Re: PID Programming
Kidsntech,

RVW does support PID programming. However, PID control may be hard to teach using the Virtual World environment. Our teachers use a physical robot in class to teach this lesson. They do this by turning on both motors and holding one of the wheels. This causes the motor that is not being held to gain more power. In RVW, there is not yet a way to replicate this.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Lee

Thanks Lee,
you answered my question. do you suggest making an attempt to cover this section? considering the absene of the robot....

No problem.

I would definitely suggest covering this topic. PID control is a key concept for engineering, specifically robotics and automation engineering. Even though you cannot "show" an example in a RVW environment, the understanding of the lesson counts the most.

Thanks, Lee
