Post How to work with other shields?
I'm new to RobotC for Arduino.
I have a shield (not available in the Plugin Shields in RobotC for Arduino 'Motors and Sensors Setup') that uses the Digital Pins 3 and 4 on Uno/Mega as RX and TX respectively.
With Arduino I've used the Software Serial Library to read integer/char data from the shield. For example-

SoftwareSerial mySerial = SoftwareSerial(3, 4);
mySerial.begin(9600);
int byteRead = mySerial.read();

But I'm not sure how to do this using RobotC.
Is specifying the pins as Digital Input and Digital Output the right way to do this?
Can anybody help?

I guess you could bit-bang a serial port on the digital pins but it would be slooooow. I don't know if ROBOTC for Arduino supports software serial. You could send a mail to support@robotc.net and ask them how to achieve this. What kind of shield is this, btw?
