local variables and global variables debug window

 local variables and global variables debug windowI am running 3.54 on nxt mindstorm with windows 7. When I start a program from the debug window with variable windows open, nothing shows. The program runs but it will not show the variables or their values. clear all will also not work. If I go to step into they immediately show. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
