Hi, in class I saw a thing about Xbee radios and was wondering
if i need one in my computer and my robot or just the robot?
It never really explained it fully on the websites i looked at.
Can anyone help me? I really want to make a cool spy robot
that i can control 150' away.
i mean come on who doesn't like to spy on your friends!

Keep diggin holes, Dwarf9668

I don't believe there is a way built-in to RobotC to use the XBees to control or communicate with the NXT. But yes, you will need two XBees, and another NXT or write a program on the computer that will use the XBee and communicate with the NXT.

Correct, they are used for robots communicating with each other. From the multi robot communication wiki:

Quote:
Multi-Robot Communications is the technology of having two or more robots communicate with each other in a variety of ways. Using a technology such as an XBee Radio to communicate between multiple agents, we can create a language between the robots to share any type of information - sensor data, location/positioning or environment data. Using this communication link, we can use Multi-Robot Communication technology to solve larger and more complex challenges.

This is one of my favorites topics to teach (hence why I mentioned it during class), and the students really had fun with their programs. One of their favorite things to do was to create a remote control: http://www.robotc.net/firewiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

There is a section in the forums on multi robot communication. You can check there for some more information also.

Bluetooth still works at a respectable distance. It's usually just fine unless your REALLY need to be far away or it's too slow.
