To confirm, are you using the VEX Cortex platform (PLTW uses the VEX Cortex, but this has been posted in the VEX IQ forums)? If so, please take a look through the 'Limiting the Arm 2' section of the Teaching ROBOTC with the VEX Cortex Video Trainer Curriculum, as it covers using the limit switch to stop a robot's arm movement.
