Free ROBOTC for all 2008 FIRST Robotics Teams!
ROBOTC for IFI is available for use in the 2008 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). ROBOTC for IFI is a C-based cross-platform programming language developed at the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy for use on the IFI-FRC controller. 

ROBOTC for IFI  has a C-based source code editor, compiler, interactive debugger – a powerful programming language for high school roboticists. PWM controllers, spike/relays and a number of digital and analog sensors are also supported.

The ROBOTC team will be providing support, along with sample code and training videos, during the FRC 2008 season to help teams program their robots using ROBOTC for IFI. Make sure to check back to the ROBOTC FRC Blog and FORUMS frequently for news and updates!

All FRC teams who are registered for the 2008 season are eligible to receive a free single-user copy of ROBOTC for IFI.  Here are the steps to follow to receive your copy of ROBOTC for IFI:

  1. DOWNLOAD a 30-day trial single-user version of ROBOTC for IFI onto a maximum of 3 computers.

  2. REGISTER your team with the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy to receive a free license for ROBOTC for IFI. You will need your FRC team number to register.

  3. Once you are registered, a license ID and password will be sent to the email address provided.You will need this code to ACTIVATE the license to use ROBOTC for IFI past the 30-day trial period. You will be prompted to enter the license ID and password when you start-up ROBOTC or select the option Activate ROBOTC.

  4. Refer frequently to the ROBOTC FRC Blog and SUPPORT area for training, information and updates.

  5. Register on the FORUMS to participate in important discussions.

  6. Before the 30-day trial period ends, activate ROBOTC for IFI using the activation code that was emailed after registering with the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy.  The use of ROBOTC for IFI will continue to be free to FRC teams who follow this process.
